I have managed to run a load of laundry and keep the house from burning down today! Pitiful! Or is it? Am I depressed? A pop-up of the word ‘depressed’ dances about my vision waiting to squish me in my bed, kind of like those words dancing on Sesame Street. Keep this up and I will be depressed! I’ve got to do something! As a modern 21st century gal, I’ll find my answers on the internet, pack the kids off to mom’s for the afternoon, and send hubby out the door to work. A friend recommended Maximized Living Dan Yachter’s program. I begin thinking wellness, exercise, health, etc. At this point I don’t have anything to lose. After browsing the Maximized Living site, I discover the ‘articles’ section. Jackpot! I look at the Practice-Not Perfect article because this seems to be my problem, plus it just grabs my attention. The biggest message I received in this article was that making changes, lasting changes, takes time. And I wasn’t giving myself this time to really change. I wanted the results tomorrow. Not only is this unrealistic, but I was setting myself up for failure in the form of depression and negativity, always being critical of myself, which can spread to others as well. Sound familiar? Others like me well enough, I think, but I’ve realized after reading this article I’m not really happy with myself. I mean even before I’ve opened my eyes in the morning, I’m categorizing all my aches and pains, listening for activity in the house and not really feeling that sense of contentment or happiness as I greet a new day. I don’t see the positive and choose to focus on the negative. So, like Dr. Dan Yachter teaches, I’m going to begin by Maximized Living makeover. Today!
